Game six of the Western Conference Second Round series is set for Sunday night when the Vegas Golden Knights visit the Edmonton Oilers. Vegas took care of business at home, Friday night, and can now eliminate the Oilers on their home ice. Below is my NHL pick for the Vegas Golden Knights vs Edmonton Oilers.
The Pick: Edmonton Oilers -184
This game will be played at Rogers Place at 10:07 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
Edmonton has been good over the past month having win 15 of their last 20 games played.
The Oilers have won 12 of their last 15 games at Rogers Place.
Edmonton is the more talented team of the two and I don’t see them going out at home.
This series had four blowouts in a row and fans could not get a game where both teams played well. That changed in game five when it was a tight, tense, battle in Las Vegas with the series tied at two.
It was a fun first period that saw Edmonton get on the board first 3:02 into the game and Vegas answering just 50 seconds after. The Oilers took the lead with just over 10 minutes remaining and led 2-1 after the first period. It stayed that way until late in the second period when the Golden Knights scored three goals in one minute and 29 seconds to take a 4-2 lead into the final period. Edmonton made in 4-3 early in the third, but neither team could score again. A big win for the Golden Knights in their home rink.
Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Reilly Smith, and Nicolas Hague all scored on the night. Five different Golden Knights recorded an assist in the win.
All the pressure is now on Edmonton as they are one game from being eliminated and they will have all the tension from their home fans. It will be important for the Oilers to start strong and avoid any defensive lapses so that they can get this to a game seven.
In the game six defeat, Connor McDavid, two goals, was joined on the scoresheet by Zach Hyman. Three Oilers recorded at least one assist in the loss.
