U2 has been in rehearsals for their much-hyped debut at the US$2.3 billion/18,600 person capacity Sphere in Las Vegas for weeks now. Tonight, the public gets to see what all the fuss is about. And from what I’ve seen, it should be pretty incredible. This place is so big that the Statue of Liberty could comfortably fit inside. Add in the ultra-giant high-res screen (the world’s largest video screen, period) and the 167,000 speakers, and…well, wow. The tech is so incredible that audiences will be watching the building instead of whoever’s onstage.

Let’s review.

Here’s a shot of the stage released by the architects. If you squint, you can see the band at the bottom of the screen.

Wallpaper magazine has a very good profile of the venue with more incredible pictures.

Next a news report on The Sphere.

Here are some photos from the U2 pop-up exhibit at The Venetian.

And finally, U2 has officially released “Atomic City,” a new single. This is the official artwork.
