In a perhaps not-so-surprising yet highly welcomed turn of events, Dead & Company has announced plans for an extensive residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. This announcement follows the band’s earlier indication that their 2023 tour would be their last, a tour that reached its peak with three performances in San Francisco last summer. The band includes Grateful Dead icons Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, as well as John Mayer, bassist Oteil Burbridge, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, and drummer Jay Lane. Less than a year after announcing their hiatus plans, Dead & Company is set to breathe new life into their musical journey. The group is slated to follow in the footsteps of Phish’s four-night stint. After much speculation, the band recently hinted at their upcoming plans with a social media post featuring the iconic “Steal Your Face” logo of the Grateful Dead, projected onto the Sphere. While specific dates are yet to be revealed, it is believed that Dead & Company will grace the stage for no less than 12 shows at this innovative venue, marking a significant continuation of their musical legacy and a treat for fans who thought they had seen the last of this beloved group’s live performances.
