‘Straight out of a sci-fi film’: Las Vegas’s ‘Sphere’ lights up, stuns netizens | Trending News,The Indian Express

Las Vegas is home to the world’s most extravagant and lavish structures be it the US’s largest Ferris wheel or the world’s biggest beam light. Now it is also home to ‘Sphere’, a state-of-the-art entertainment venue, that is claimed to be the world’s highest-resolution wraparound LED screen.

While the Sphere is set to open in September, it was lit up this Tuesday to mark the occasion of the Fourth of July, a federal holiday in the USA.

Now, the immersive visuals of the Sphere are going viral across social media. While many people are impressed with the entertainment venue, others criticised it for adding to Las Vegas’s light pollution.

A Twitter user shared a video of Sphere on Twitter and wrote, “First animation of the MSG Sphere this morning. This is going to be the coolest building in the world.”.

Sharing a similar video, another person wrote, “This is the $2.2bn Sphere in Las Vegas, and it’s not CGI. This is real. What an incredible feat of engineering.” A person described the venue as ‘Straight out of a sci-fi film’.

As per USA Today, the Sphere is 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide structure. It is fitted with 1.2 million hockey puck-sized LEDs that can be programmed to create surreal imagery. The venue, said to be made with a budget of 1.2 billion dollars, will host live concerts, sporting events, and film screenings. The venue will open to the public on September 29, with a concert by the popular Irish rock band U2.
