The MSG Sphere in Las Vegas is getting a makeover for Netflix‘s release of Zack Snyder’s new sci-fi epic Rebel Moon . The massive dome, equipped with 1.2 million LED lights, is consistently making headlines thanks to several clever promos taking advantage of the display’s visibility in America’s Adult Disneyland. Snyder’s films are always an event for his dedicated fanbase, and Netflix is sparing no expense to promote the filmmaker’s Star Wars-like franchise starter. The Rebel Moon MSG Sphere display features Jimmy, a character from Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire , voiced by Anthony Hopkins and played by Dustin Ceithamer. JC-1435, known more simply as Jimmy, was a sentient machine that, centuries ago, defended a since-slain king as part of the Mechanics Miltarium. As the promo plays across the gargantuan structure, Jimmy surveys the Divorce Capitol of the World before reaching out to crowds with his mechanical hand. Accompanying Jimmy is a fleet of drones that fly around the structure. While some drones emit a blue, star-like light, others fly above the dome to spell the words “Rebel Moon.” Zack Snyder posted a sweet video of the Rebel Moon MSG Sphere Las Vegas promo on Twitter. Check it out below! Jimmy’s taking over the Vegas night sky! Catch him in Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, now playing only on Netflix. pic.twitter.com/kuddGKTg1q — Zack Snyder (@ZackSnyder) December 22, 2023 Here’s the official logline for Rebel Moon : “When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.” Zack Snyder directs from a script he co-wrote with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad. Cleopatra Coleman, Sofia Boutella, and Charlie Hunnam star alongside Cary Elwes, Anthony Hopkins, Jena Malone, Corey Stoll, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Stuart Martin, Ray Fisher, and more.
