MSG Sphere is a music and entertainment arena in Nevada, Las Vegas, USA. Designed by Populous, the spherical project was announced by the Madison Square Garden Company in 2018, known then as the MSG Sphere. It hosts live entertainment and concerts while showcasing a wide range of visual content across its exterior. The bowl-shaped theater has the world’s highest-resolution wraparound LED screen and the exterior is decorated with 1.2 million hockey puck-sized LEDs. $2.3BN MSG Sphere is the largest spherical structure in the world.
Inside the Sphere is a spectacular event location that offers space for 17,600 seated visitors and another 20,000 standing visitors. Over 165,000 speakers, including those integrated into the floor, ensure that the audience receives the best possible sound at every seat, regardless of the booked seating category or event. 4D elements such as sudden temperature changes, smells or air movements have also been integrated, taking the audiovisual experience to a whole new level.
“The Exosphere is more than a screen or a billboard – it is living architecture, and unlike anything that exists anywhere in the world,” said MSG Sphere senior vice president Guy Barnett to Dezeen. “Last night’s show (special Independence Day show) provided a glimpse of the Exosphere’s captivating power, and the possibilities for artists, partners, and brands to create compelling and impactful stories to connect with audiences in new ways.”
