MSG Sphere illuminates Las Vegas skyline for the first time

Sphere has illuminated the Las Vegas skyline for the first time using its entire exterior – the largest LED screen on the planet – to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Called the Exosphere, the new $2.3 billion Sphere’s exterior features 580,000 square feet of LED lighting to display incredible images.

“The Exosphere is more than a screen or a billboard – it is living architecture, and unlike anything that exists anywhere in the world,” said Guy Barnett, SVP of brand strategy and creative development.

He added, “Last night’s show provided a glimpse of the Exosphere’s captivating power, and the possibilities for artists, partners, and brands to create compelling and impactful stories to connect with audiences in new ways.”

Aside from the impressive exterior, Sphere is a unique entertainment destination where artists and creators will offer immersive experiences.

From September, the state-of-the-art venue will host original productions by Hollywood directors – including The Whale and Black Swan helmer Darren Aronofsky – as well as concerts and residencies from the world’s biggest musicians.

World’s largest LED screen

Outside, as seen last week, the Exosphere will showcase a range of content that will be seen by guests at Sphere, Las Vegas visitors, and social media users.

“Sphere’s Exosphere is a 360-degree canvas for brand storytelling that will be seen around the world, offering our partners an unparalleled opportunity to become part of the greatest show on Earth,” said David Hopkinson, president and chief operating officer of MSG Sports, which oversees global marketing and brand partnerships across Sphere Entertainment.

There’s nothing comparable to the impact from displaying innovative brand and immersive content on the world’s largest video screen.

“The extraordinary experiences we can create are only limited by imagination, and we’re thrilled to finally share with the world the spectacular potential of the Exosphere,” he added.

As previously reported, Aronofsky’s Postcard from Earth debuts at the Sphere on 6 October. “At its best, cinema is an immersive medium that transports the audience out of their regular life, whether that’s into fantasy and escapism, another place and time, or another person’s subjective experience. The Sphere is an attempt to dial up that immersion,” said Aronofsky.
