Tom Brady wants a stake in another Las Vegas sports team, the Aces waive three players, and the Athletics change their deal for a very big reason. All this and more last week in Las Vegas sports (May 8 – 14).
Henry Ruggs III was drunk when he ran into the back of Tina Tintor’s car and killed her. Three years later, he has accepted a plea deal that will see him do between 2 and 10 years for driving while intoxicated.
“I recognize this outcome is not sufficient to punish Ruggs for the loss the Tintor family has suffered,” Clark County District Attorney, Steve Wolfson wrote in a statement, “but there was a legitimate concern that a court would have suppressed the result of the blood draw. We would have lost the felony DUI charge. We couldn’t take that chance. This resolution sends Ruggs to prison for up to 10 years on a felony DUI conviction and brings closure to the Tintor family.”
The 2023 Las Vegas Raiders schedule has been released and it’s interesting. While the season starts with a road game against the Broncos, they then deal with the Bills. This will also be the second straight-away game of the season, which isn’t good. They actually won’t be at Allegiant Stadium until September 24th against the Steelers.
Next, they move on to the Chargers, who have been a difficult opponent for them in the past. Things get a bit better after that when they take on the Green Bay Packers but then run into a rematch with the Patriots, the Bears, and the Giants.

The Las Vegas Aces are preparing for the 2023 season and waived three players last week. The Aces waived Aisha Sheppard, who helped them to a championship just last season. They also parted ways with Brittany Davis, which was their only selection in the 2023 draft. The final casualty was Courtney Range, who got invited from overseas to attend Aces training camp. Despite the losses, the Aces have immense star power with Candance Parker, A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, and Jackie Young all on the team.
The Athletics are heading to Las Vegas, but things have changed. The A’s reportedly now have a deal with Bally’s Corp to build a 35,000-square-foot stadium at the site that now houses the Tropicana. The retractable roof arena will be built on 9 acres of the 34-acre property. The news is expected to knock down the price of the stadium and help gain public support.
According to the Nevada Independent: “Even with the lower public funding request, the team is still likely to look for approval from state lawmakers and Gov. Joe Lombardo for a financing package covering a portion of stadium construction costs. No legislation to do so has been introduced with 28 days remaining in the state’s 120-day legislative session.”
ESPN is reporting that Tom Brady is interested in a minor stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. Sources close to the situation are claiming that the deal is sensitive and that he would play a passive role. This means he will have no control over day-to-day operations and would essentially be buying in for financial support and connections. The news comes only a month after Brady purchased a stake in the Las Vegas Aces.
