Becky Hammon gives an update on Candace Parker’s status, the Golden Knights’ TV schedule is revealed, and Kyle Busch speaks about his postseason chances. Let’s talk last week in Las Vegas sports (Aug 28 – Sept 3).
The NASCAR playoffs are here, and Kyle Busch is among the competitors taking on the ten-race tournament. The rules are four drivers get eliminated at the end of every three races until only four remain for the championship race at Phoenix Raceway. The driver that finishes ahead of the rest of the Final four ultimately wins the championship.
Busch has accomplished this feat twice in his Cup Series career and believes he has a chance at a third one in 2023. This comes after the Las Vegas native lost his ride at JGR and moved on to RCR, where he has already won three races. He talked very highly about his chances during an interview with Motorsports.
“To bring home a championship, but more importantly, just make that final four. The potential is there,” Busch said. “The stuff is there. The team is there. We just need to execute, and that starts with me. That starts with Randall,(crew chief) and snowballs from there.”
The Las Vegas Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup Finals last year and are prepared to do it again. Fortunately for Golden Knights fans, Las Vegas is getting a great deal of nationally televised games this season. This means Las Vegas fans will see their team go up against some of the best in the NHL in primetime!
These include a preseason matchup against the Avalanche on October 5, the Kraken on October 10, and a November 8 matchup against the Kings. In all, Sin City is getting 15 nationally televised games in 2023 that will be split between ESPN and TNT.

While the Las Vegas Aces have looked unbeatable at times, the superteam just took their first back-to-back loss of the year. This comes as a result of a 94-85 loss to the New York Liberty. The same Liberty that blew the Aces out in the Commissioner’s Cup earlier this year.
The reason for the losses comes down to several factors that keep piling up. One example is Candace Parker’s injury, which is having a big effect on the team. She is that extra bit of roster depth that the Aces need, and they still don’t know when they are going to get that back.
Despite the two-game skid, The Aces have rebounded with an 84-75 victory over the Mystics and a 103-77 blowout against the Storm. The wins are somewhat hollow victories given what happened before, but it is at least building momentum. That’s what this team needs right now, heading into a packed playoff battle.
The Las Vegas Aces are still without Candace Parker heading into the 2023 WNBA Playoffs. Not only has this led to a string of losses, but it paints a pretty grim picture for the playoffs.
Nekias Duncan of the WNBA spoke with Becky Hammon last week and learned there is still no timetable for Parker’sreturn. This means Parker will likely be ruled out for most, if not all, of the playoffs. The Aces will have to figure out a way to deal with that absence and stay in championship form.
The Aces are also dealing with the suspension of Riquina Williams, who was arrested for domestic violence. Although Williams sat out the entire regular season due to a back injury, there was at least some hope that she could be utilized in the playoffs. Her suspension ends that possibly and leaves the Aces without these critical pieces.
There are high hopes for the Las Vegas Raiders, and a lot has to do with signing Joshua Jacobs. While the organization and Jacobs struggled to agree to terms, Jacobs signed a one-year franchise tag worth $12 million in August.
Some were worried that there were hard feelings between the two, but fortunately for the Raiders, Jacobs is just happy to be back.
“I mean, s—, we here,”Jacobs said on a conference call at the Raiders training facility. “We made it happen, so it ain’t no hard feelings now. It’s a clean slate for me. It was never … no hate on each side. I understood it, but at the same time, I understood my value, too. So it was just about meeting in the middle.”Next: 5 Times The Raiders didn’t listen to their fanbase
