The Raiders signed Garoppolo to a 3-year deal in March, reuniting him with head coach Josh McDaniels, who was the offensive coordinator in New England when Garoppolo was drafted by the Patriots in the second round in 2014. As the host of this year’s Super Bowl, Las Vegas is sure to put on a party. The Raiders hope to be on center stage when the festivities begin. But the early Super Bowl odds suggest the path to home field advantage will be filled with potholes. The Raiders opening line to win a title opened at +8000, the fourth lowest in the AFC.
The toughest competition lies within the division as defending champion Kansas City has the best odds to pull off a repeat at +600. The Eagles, who lost to Kansas City in the Super Bowl last season, is +800 with Buffalo and San Francisco just behind at +1000. The Chargers are +1300 while Denver is +3000.
The AFC is deep with teams that are contenders for a Super Bowl title, starting with Kansas City. But Buffalo and Cincinnati will have their say in who comes out of the conference and head to the Super Bowl. As would be expected, the Chiefs have the best odds to win the AFC crown at +350, followed by the Bills at +425 and the Bengals at +500. No other team in the AFC is below +1000 odds.
The Raiders would like to crash that party with their new look on offense and an improved defense. The Raiders odds are +4000 to win the AFC title, tied with Tennessee and ahead of only Indianapolis (+6000) and Houston (+8000).
