Dana White reveals the UFC has a deal in place to host 'the GREATEST live combat sports show' at the Las Vegas Sphere on Mexican Independence Day | Daily Mail Online

UFC president Dana White has announced they will be hosting the ‘greatest live combat sports show’ at the Las Vegas Sphere on Mexican Independence Day.

White could not contain his excitement when talking about the deal at UFC 295, claiming he’s ‘loved every second’ of the ‘challenging’ process.

White – who tried to stage a fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg at the Colosseum in Italy – told reporters he was ‘super excited’ about the September bout.

‘Mexican Independence Day, we are booked for the Sphere,’ White said at the UFC 295 post-fight press conference.

‘It is a massive challenge, and I love every minute of it. I’m super excited about this. I love challenges. I’m gonna put on the greatest live combat sports show everyone has ever seen.’

UFC president Dana White confirmed a Mexican Independence Day card at Las Vegas’ Sphere

Sphere opened in September 2023 and is owned by the Madison Square Garden Company

White mentioned how his relationship with Madison Square Garden Company chief James Dolan played a role in booking the event.

‘I have a great relationship with Dolan,’ The UFC chief added. ‘I’ve been terrorizing him about the Sphere, and we got it done.’

Sphere opened outside Las Vegas in September. Aside from its unique shape, Sphere features a wraparound internal LED screen that takes visuals to the next level.

The first-of-its-kind venue currently hosts the ‘U2:UV Achtung Baby Live’ concert series – which runs until February 2024.

The UFC has held the majority of its cards in Las Vegas since its first event at the MGM Grand Arena in 2001.

The UFC has since opened a Performance Institute and the UFC Apex, planting their roots deeper in Nevada.

Following UFC 295 at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, the UFC will head back to the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for UFC 296.

The last pay-per-view of the year will happen on December 16 and feature the welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington.
