Eagles Band 2021; Photo: Ron Koch The rapturous acclaim thrown at U2’s recent residency at Sphere in Las Vegas inspired speculation from all corners as to which other iconic legacy acts may take up residencies of their own — and a report from The New York Post suggests Eagles may be next to take over the state-of-the-art venue for a run of special performances. Specifically, the Post reports a “source” stating that the classic rock ensemble will play Sphere over 10 weekends from September through December. U2 concluded its Sphere run with a “thank-you” video set to “Beautiful Day,” which pretty much sums up the awe-inspiring production that happens inside the venue’s walls: Currently, announced upcoming Sphere residencies include Phish (click here) and Dead & Company (click here), and the Eagles — Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey — remain busy with their own Long Goodbye tour, an extended “final tour” that is on track to end sometime in 2025, barring further additions to the schedule.
