Athletes Who Belong on the Las Vegas Sports Mount Rushmore

If Las Vegas is going to be a real sports town, it needs its heroes. If the Las Vegas sports Mount Rushmore existed, here’s who it would depict.

#4 Mark Stone, Las Vegas Golden Knights

Mark Stone started as one of the best playmakers on the Las Vegas Golden Knights, amassing 42 assists in his first season. He followed that up with 21 goals and 17 power-play points.

The following year he put up 40 assists, 21 goals, and another 17 power-play points. Unfortunately, that was the year they lost to the Sharks in the first round of the postseason. Fast forward to 2022, and Stone’s production has somewhat declined. He is still good for  17 goals, 21 assists, 3 PPG, and 9 PPG this season.

Stone has been there for a while and is among the last to have that honor. He is also one of their biggest iron men. The Las Vegas fanbase owes this man great gratitude for his commitment and fortitude for his team. Stone is just the whole package.

#3 Kyle Busch, Las Vegas NASCAR driver

Not only is this man a future Hall of Famer, but he is also the sport’s most polarizing figure. The Las Vegas native has already amassed 61 Cup Series wins and over 200 victories across NASCAR’s top three series, leaving little reason to doubt his legitimacy. As if that wasn’t enough to cement himself on the Las Vegas Hall of Fame, he won a championship while injured.

The year was 2015, and Kyle Busch had just hit the inside wall during the Daytona Xfinity Series race. The wall also wasn’t reinforced, likely making Busch’s injuries worse. He ultimately suffered a broken leg and had to sit out 11 races.

While many quickly ruled Busch out of the playoffs, he returned and won a race. This qualified him for the playoff after he got an exemption. Busch then went on to win the championship that year with some pretty impressive stats.

Joshua Jacobs is one of the few good things about the Las Vegas Raiders, so he deserves some praise. His career stats with Las Vegas prove he belongs on Sin City’s Mount Rushmore. In four seasons with the Raiders, Jacobs has racked up 4370 yards in 1072 attempts for 4.4 yards a carry and 40 touchdowns.

#1 A’ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces

Aj’a Wilson has been a constant for the Las Vegas Aces and helped them to their first championship. Of course, it took some expert coaching from Becky Hammon, but Wilson led the way. She even took home the WNBA MVP award for the second year in a role. Wilson is just a once-in-a-lifetime athlete that the Aces are very lucky to have.

Wilson has been there for Las Vegas during the good times and the bad, which has endeared her to Sin City. She was there when the Aces got swept in the 2020 WNBA Finals. She was also there when they were beaten in the playoffs and denied a chance back into the Finals. Looking at her career stats, she has 19.1 points, 1.7 blocks, one steal, 2.3 assists, and 8.4 rebounds per game. Wilson also led the league in blocks twice.
