Povilas Kesminas Jon Pillon I booked this stay over 6 months ago for my wife and I to spend our anniversary with a romantic getaway. The Rio has changed owners and they are trying to renovate since Caesars clearly didn’t care for upkeep here. We were given a newly renovated suite. We started our stay on a Sunday and by Monday morning at 7am the renovations on the suite above us started. It proceeded to get worse and worse with power tools vibrating the entire ceiling. We called down to the front desk and they told us to pack our things and come down. After waiting in line for some time we got to the desk and the lady moved us to a suite that had not been updated. There were burn holes all over the floor from a smoker in the room. The toilet would not stop running and half of the light switches didnt work.So we called down again to talk to a manager. At this point i asked if I can pay even more to get a similar room. We went back downstairs and waited more time in line. They moved us to the 20th floor. This room has the potential to be really nice. Duct tape keeps the carpet down and the tub is definitely not the same size as the suite we paid for originally. At this point this romantic getaway with my wife has been challenging.Although the staff has been very nice and considerate in our trips up and down the hotel. They can really only do so much with a busy resort.I think after the renovations are complete this could be a great place to stay. The Pen & Teller show was amazing. The food and service at the Hash house is great. There is a lot of potential for the new owners to make this a great off the strip location. If they get the rooms sorted and the tagging off the mirrors in the elevators and update the signage to newer attractions and places to eat vs things that aren’t available anymore. Shauna Johnson Overall I really enjoyed my stay at Rio. The hotel is older, but it is pretty well maintained. They are doing renovations to the rooms and casino area, but it wasn’t an issue as far as noise or anything like that. The rooms are quite large, very spacious and comfortable. The linens were clean and the beds were comfortable. There were plenty of food options at the hotel and some cute little shops. The hotel is located off the strip, so it wasn’t as busy as some of the hotels on the strip (which I didn’t mind). Parking is free and there was a police officer/security guard patrolling the parking lot and garage. I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend to others. Sonia M My star rating is based on my experiences prior to the new owners. I just wanted to say that I was there this past weekend to dine and play and I’m excited for what’s to come to this place. This was my favorite place before covid, they used to have a lot of music and dancers and the pool area was fun. After covid my experiences were not good. Rooms were dated and customer service was lacking. However, this past weekend felt completely different. Very nice staff, new machines, more machines. I like that they’re getting a food court. I can see the upcoming changes and it all looks like the Rio is gonna come back to life. For those complaining about the construction. Duh, the place is getting renovated (eye roll). Coach Quinney This is literally happening right now. Smells like vomit and sewage.. this is disgusting. If it were possible to leave a review with less than one star, that’s what I would do.** Update **The front desk was no help The manager was not either. This all occurred near midnight and the front desk told me that me and my daughters have to wait for maintenance to come up and attempt to mask the odor. When I went back to my room I noticed all the flooding. Maintenance showed up and so did another guest. The water was coming from the room between ours and the other guest and the maintenance person went in and confirmed it was the toilet backing up. This is the reason why we were smelling vomit and sewage in our room. However, We were told there were no room to put us in and we would have to deal with it or leave. I then proceeded to try to find a place to go to at the front desk when in a very smart sarcastic voice the manager offered a room on the 13th floor! I’ve never been so offended by a “hospitality” despite all this he did say he was refunding our entire trip, however as of 48 hours later I have not seen anything regarding a refund. The Rio should be ashamed of themselves as they are and have been recently the worst hotel on the strip. We are here with our team and multiple other families have had complaints regarding the rooms that they were given. One mentioned that their room was in complete construction phase with drywall all over the floor and ripped apart. The toilet wasn’t even connected. Abysmal experience for all of us..My daughter’s and I found a place at candlewood suites, better substantially better but didn’t get there till 3:00 a.m. David LoConto I stopped by for a couple of days to see how the renovation was going. I was comped a renovated room on a Friday and Saturday. The room renovation was very good. The staff as always (I’ve been visiting The Rio since 1990) were great, and it was great to see familiar faces as always. Everyone was optimistic. There is lots of work being done. The food court is scheduled to open in January, and will have a very good selection. The Wine Cellar as well will reopen in January. That was always one of my favorite places to hang out at The Rio. The old manager of The Wine Cellar is also back. They are replacing all the machines on the casino floor. That part isn’t quite finished, but there were zero problems finding machines to play when I wanted. Rio Rewards were as good as promised. I accumulated a lot of points in very short order. Many of the shops are gone, but I’m sure they will be replaced soon enough. I’m looking forward to seeing all the updates as time goes by. Devender This particular visit to Vegas was really quick. There for roughly 24 hours. Excited to find a reasonably priced last minute room at The Rio. The property was pristine. The remodel is really nice and right up my alley. Kind of modern art deco. We only interacted with staff when we checked in around midnight and when we had to show our key to access elevators. They front desk staff were lovely and a lot of fun. We did get to dine at Hash House but that’s another review (DELICIOUS, btw). When I return I’d definitely stay at Rio again. It’s not directly on the strip but very close. We had a beautiful view of the mountains and The Palms. It was quiet Umair Hamid Check in was smooth and staff was helpful. Rooms were a bit dated and rundown with cracks/crumbling in the wall, stains in the floor/couch. Great views from the room. 10 min ride Uber to the strip. They charged a resort fee but I went to the gym at 6am and it was closed. I understand they’re doing construction so not sure what the resort fee is for. Most shops were closed during the stay too. Also the casino had leaks all over; literal water dripping from the ceiling. There were trash cans everywhere collecting water and one of the gross water drops hit me. Emmy Wong They are still renovating, but I was able to get a renovated room @the Ipanema tower, which was nice, I was on the 3rd floor, not a good view outside but room is very nice and clean. Due to the renovations, stuff is missing, we didn’t have any pillows in the room, they ran out when we were here. There was no hangers either but when I called housekeeping they were able to get hangers and one pillow. Overall room was spacious and nice. I would stay here again. Amber Joy The updated rooms are nice and feel spacious. Although I requested a blanket 4 times before receiving it, and had a lose wall fixture fall on me, overall the staff, room, and customer service were great. The location was easily accessible. A shuttle to the strip would be beneficial for easy access. Food options were somewhat limited, but a new food court they are soon opening will resolve that.
